A Thief

A snap and the lock is broken
A push and the entrance revealed
Silent steps followed by a shadow
In the midst of the night
Takes what is not theirs
Priceless to the owner, it is

An abrupt noise startling the clever lad
A cry
Of terror? Of surprise? Of hatred? Of joy?
No, they could not tell so they ran
As fast as they could, as fast as they have ever run
A shrill voice called out "Thief! Thief!" ringing above and later,
Around the one who ran

While the lad ran, a realization hit their head
Where the importance of the stolen possession was lost
Tossing it away, they kept on running feeling lighter than before
Not once looking back to see the effects of their actions

Danger at Dusk

Sun rises, bird's wake up call
Sweet chirps in the morning
These sweet chirps go on all day
Until dusk when
Those birds fly home
To safety
Except
Few remain, unsafe, in danger, always
Chirp louder they do, attracting others
Towards them
These others seem nice, though nice they are not
Far from it they truly are

Expectations

Expectations
Unbeknownst to you
When they are set
Frustrated when you realize they are
Living up to them
Or trying to
Being
The hardest task of them all

Tick Tock

Time ticking
Always slowly slipping away
There when you seem to need it not
Lost when you wish it were on your side
But time
Takes no side
No matter how much
You need it
Want it
Think that you
Have captured it
Never forget that
Time is always
Ticking away
And it is one thing
That you will never get back
So
Use it wisely
